Yes, yes. We know. This is too much for the “blog” that you want us to pass. But let us be. Okay? We’re sharing something big here. So, here’s our concert story.
This is Megan, and this would be my color for this blog.
This is Mhatt, and all the color blue here are my thoughts and opinions.
“‘Cause I don’t wanna
go through the gates of Heaven
thinking what we might
have missed.”
Wonders, The Script
Okay, let me start off with the concert announcement. I was scrolling on Twitter that day (please follow me: @meggymogu). The date was October 30, 2017. Following The Script, I saw their tweet about Freedom Child Tour Asia. AND I WENT WILD. Yes, wild. The first person that came straight to my mind, of course, is none other than my partner here in this blog. Apparently, he already knew na pala like huh. That day as well, if I’m correct, I sent him an email. About the concert and that I won’t go if he wouldn’t go as well. (sweet words, oh you could only imagine *cringe* — I accidentally deleted my email to him, now I don’t have any memory of it. I might cry, so here’s Mhatthew speaking next.)
When I heard about the concert, I know that I had a little to no chance on attending the Freedom Child Tour. But still, I tried earning money at least for the cheapest seats available. With my luck turning out bad, the General Admission got sold out fast. It was like a kick-in-the-crotch-spit-on-your-neck fantastic. My high hopes were sinking down like the Titanic hitting the iceberg. So, I just accepted the fact that I would be #TeamBahay on the concert and can only hear them through my earphones with tears falling from my eyes.
Okay, me again. So that picture below was the announcement for Freedom Child Tour Manila. Oh and, what you’re about to read is something that only Dade (Mervin) knew about. Even Mhatthew doesn’t know this yet. (short explanation: we edited this on separate laptops, I got to edit first. So, yeah.)

My cousin, who travels by sea and earns his *handful* amount of money, knew that it would be my birthday soon (remember this was 2017). He chatted me and asked me what I wanted. I told him I wanted to watch my favorite band live. Here’s the proof.

All went well of course. That was November 6th. And the freaky thing was, they released the concert ticket on November 7th. I GOT A BIG PROBLEM. I still haven’t told my parents about my plan and I don’t know how to freakin’ bring Mhatthew to the concert. So that night, November 7th, I talked to my cousin again.

I was tricked! Nilinlang ako.
Okay so after a week, November 14, I was off to buy the concert tickets. With Dade. Sa Subic. I got us two Lower Box B tickets. Here!!!!!

I posted on Twitter immediately. Leaving the other one behind on the picture because Mhatthew doesn’t know that he was coming with me yet. The next day, November 15, Dade and I were off again (to Jollibee) because I was going to ask Mhatthew’s sister a favor, which was to tell their parents about my plan (to surprise him on his birthday with the concert ticket). November 16th, good news came. His parents allowed him to go with me. EVERYTHING WENT OUT SMOOTH (with konting stress and depression lang naman, walang gana kumain kasi umaga’t gabi ko iniisip yung ticket, pagpapaalam kay Mhatthew, ticket, pagpapaalam kay Mhatthew, ticket, pagpapaalam kay Mhatthew). Hello Mhatt, alam kong ngayon mo lang ‘to napag-aalaman. HAHAHA! It’s time you know the story as well.
So when I heard that she already got the tickets, I felt so happy for her but also sad because I couldn’t go. Then one day, I borrowed Mervin’s phone then I saw in his Facebook Messenger (I don’t know how I got there) that he had a conversation with my sister. But being my dumb self, I still had no idea.
Okay, cool. Now I just had to wait for his birthday. But before that day, months to be exact, I was actually foreshadowing his birthday gift surprise. I just don’t know if he noticed though. I remember one, and that was when we passed a paper in FILAK. About Andrew asking for the permission to go to the concert. And Tempe replying back with her approval. Simple foreshadowing stuffs like that.
See, I told you I was tatanga-tanga. I am so naive. HAHAHAHA. Jk.
Now, let’s go to his birthday, February 6, 2017. Unfortunately, he wasn’t around. Nakasulot! Nabawasan yung kaba. Okay, skip. February 7th. Well, I had to do something. I had to give it. I decided to just hand it out to him (my friends even suggested an explosion box tapos nasa pinakababa yung ticket, eh ano ka boyfriend ko?). No, I don’t have the courage. And yes, let’s skip the crinkles part. I let Dade give it to him (while I hid behind Dad’s back). It was the most nervous part of my life. Because I considered the potential that he might not accept it. But there it goes.
Best birthday gift ever. I still can’t believe that I got the chance to meet my favorite band. I was from practice that day and I don’t know why I went to the classroom. I just felt that I should. Inutusan pa nila ako bumili ng crinkles. Then when I returned, camera phones were focused on me then Merv handed the black envelope that contained one of my dreams.
It was my idea na pabilhin siya ng crinkles. (to gather my nerves)

So the April 14 came, Saturday, the day of the concert. Excitement was flowing through my blood. Agitated on what was about to happen. I was the first one to ride on the van that we rented. We were joined by some of my neighbors and relatives. The ride was good, especially because I know our driver personally.
Until now, (according to Mhatt), akala daw nung driver mag-shota kami. Huh!

In that picture, mga 15 minutes siguro kaming nagkakagulo sa sasakyan. Nag-aayos ako ng bag tapos kung ano-anong pagpapalit ng damit yung ginawa ni Mhatthew. And that was April! It was so hot lalo na nung nasa Pampanga.
So my luck seemed on point that day, the packed lunch my mother prepared for me spilled in my bag. So everything inside my bag was messed up so I had to wear my clothes that I brought. I came to the concert wearing a jacket, a polo, and a t-shirt underneath. Imagine how hot it was; it was summer!
Exactly 5 pm, we arrived at the Mall Of Asia Arena! It was one hour before the gates finally open! The excitement though!
We had an hour to stall so we went inside the mall, looked for anything interesting, went inside bookstores. So it is almost 6 and we were still in the mall. We went outside and look for the entrance. Then, there is this guy who asked to buy our tickets so many times.
Was freaked out. So we walked away from him. Oh, and I finally got to buy The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho! I was searching for it for months. And Mhatt, who was looking for One Of Us Is Lying, saw the book as well, but he wasn’t able to buy it. He has it now though! So happy for him!

So we were in line, still confused af on what was happening. Then some waiting happened and we were already on the entrance of the arena. I was like, “This is it, one of my bucket list is about to happen.” Then, we went up, bought some doughnuts for dinner and met the Hulkbuster. Just the statue though.

We were so close from the stage!

The show started with a front act at around 8:00 pm. But you could already feel the excitement in the crowd. It was 8:30 pm when the real show started. I can’t describe it any longer. HAHAHA!
As the first strum of the guitar and the first strike on the drums, the crowd went wild. People are readying their phones to capture the event. I was still starstruck on them. So, the event happened. Mistaken lyrics and being out of tune was not an issue as long as you were enjoying.

“Just like home,
let’s color the streets
like our own.”
The Script

I like this song so much, I recorded the whole performance on my phone.
The best setup of the stage in the whole concert for me.

Danny O’Donoghue

Mark Sheehan

Glen Power
As The Script walked in to the crowd, I was capturing some pictures of the stage. Then suddenly, I was so shocked when they sang one of my most favorite songs which is Never Seen Anything Quite Like You. I don’t know what expression I made but I know it was a funny one because Megs always talk about it.
Ohhh, his reaction will be mine to keep forever. No one will be able take that away from me. One of the most precious moments I’ll keep. It was already the chorus when he finally shut his mouth and recovered! HAHAHA!

The last song they played was “Hall of Fame” and it was probably the song that takes me back to that night over and over again.
A little bit sad because that was the last song on the playlist.

not dreams”
